Project Guidelines
Make 10 - Fall 2023
- To develop an innovative product that can be manufactured with a low cost tooling method, and put into short run production
- Sell products in a small quantity of 10 at the Georgia Tech School of Industrial Design Launchpad Make 10 Marketplace
- Create a business plan, bill of materials, and Etsy storefront listing
Inspiration
The charming apartments in Paris, Stockholm, and Amsterdam.
Prototyping
Painted wood white and added curve detail to base of tea house.
First prototype in wood. Add roof detail and drew facade elements with Sharpie.
Refinement
In order to reduce cost and assembly time, many pieces of the home were consolidated. Stairs were added to lift the home off of the ground and to add a whimsical touch,
Designing the Facade
The illustrative quality of the facade design was inspired by Parisian apartment windows as well as my own artistic style. The design was first drawn in Procreate, then moved into Illustrator for engraving on the laster cutter.
The Finishing Touch
To add even more charm and whimsy to the facade of TeaHome, I hand painted brown and bronze watercolors onto the windows and other areas.
